Connect the checker once.

Scout v1.18.1 normally checks age through free public RDAP APIs without setup. This optional connection uses your original Domain Age Checker form when the registry cannot supply a date, or when Connected checker only is selected. The connector adds local messages to a copy of the installed checker. It keeps the checker’s existing lookup logic and data source.

  1. Update Scout in its existing folder, click Reload at chrome://extensions, and confirm v1.18.1.
  2. Open Scout → Settings → Connect your Domain Age Checker. Click Download connection file. Keep scout-connection.json in Downloads, or place it beside this guide.
  3. Double-click Connect-Age-Checker.cmd in this folder. The Windows script finds the installed checker and creates a connected copy on your Desktop. If several Chrome profiles contain a checker, choose yours. For an unpacked checker, paste the folder containing its manifest.json.
  4. Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and select the newly created Scout-Domain-Age-Checker-… folder.
  5. Copy the new checker’s 32-letter ID. Paste it in Scout’s Connected Domain Age Checker ID field. Click Test connection & save. You should see Connected.
  6. Start research. Scout keeps your dashboard selected, opens only the connected checker form in a background tab, enters the domain, clicks Check Age, captures its Registration Date and updates the live dashboard. No date-entry, Allow, or Continue prompt is used during research.

The original checker remains installed. Its copied version is labelled “(Scout connection)” so you can distinguish them.

Updating an already connected checker

Rerun the new Connect-Age-Checker.cmd. It updates matching generated Desktop copies in place and keeps their IDs. Click Reload on your connected checker at chrome://extensions. If you moved its folder, replace the five files in its scout-age subfolder with bridge.html, bridge.css, parser.js, relay.js and ui.js from this adapter, then Reload. Keep its existing config.js and manifest.json.

What the adapter supports

A Manifest V3 checker with a local toolbar popup, a domain field, a “Check Age” button, and visible results labelled “Domain” and “Registration Date”. It handles the 16.06.2025 date format from your screenshots, ISO dates and English month dates. It reads the registration field; expiration dates and other domains’ results are rejected.

If a check is unavailable

The queue marks the age unknown and proceeds automatically. Unknown ages cannot pass the age filter. Scout adds no direct lookup request, paid service or API key. Your checker retains its existing provider, access requirements and limits.

This connector has been tested with representative popup and Chrome fixtures. Your checker’s exact source and live Chrome instance were unavailable here. A checker that depends on its store ID, forbids embedded popups, uses a different interface, or requires manual verification needs an adjustment. If setup or the first age check fails, supply that checker’s ZIP/source so its specific implementation can be adapted.

The installer copies files, adds the local adapter, and opens the new folder. It does not modify your original installed checker, registry, browser profile or system settings. Chrome’s own installation prompts may still appear.
